Readily
An accessibility widget that website owners host themselves, designed and built from the first line.
Visit the live website

THE PROJECT
Reading, on the visitor’s terms.
Readily adds a small menu to any website. Visitors open it and adapt the page to how they read: larger text, more spacing, higher contrast, a more legible typeface, reading aids, paused animations, or the page read aloud.
We designed and built the product end to end: the widget, a WordPress plugin with its own settings screen, and the website that explains and sells it, including checkout, legal pages and guides.
THE CHALLENGE
What we were solving.
Most accessibility widgets load from the vendor’s servers on every page view, charge by traffic and promise legal compliance they cannot deliver. Readily had to work the other way: one file the website owner hosts and owns, no tracking, a once-off price, and honest about what a widget can and cannot do.
OUR APPROACH
How we did it.
- Small and self-contained. A single script of about 67 KB with no outside requests, so it runs from the customer’s own domain and survives full-page caching.
- Accessible by design. Every control works by keyboard and with screen readers, with visible focus, reduced-motion support and a layout that holds at phone width.
- Built for two buyers. A WordPress plugin with a settings screen for site owners, and a one-line install with full configuration for developers and agencies.
- A website that proves the claim. The real widget runs on every page, so visitors try the product before they buy, and the copy states its limits in the buying flow.
THE OUTCOME
What shipped.
Readily is live at readily.co.za. Its website scores 100 in all four Google Lighthouse categories on mobile and desktop, and passes automated axe-core checks and a manual review against WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
